New Year’s Breakfast

Archer Lodge starts the year off right with a Community Breakfast held at the Community Center on January 1st.  TheNew Year's Breakfast event begins around 8:30 am with everyone bringing a breakfast dish – sausage biscuits, ham and eggs, bacon, muffins, orange juice, mmmmmmm – anyway, you can smell the food for miles.  There is also a short program introducing the community leaders, welcoming new guests, distributing awards for last year’s accomplishments, and inducting new “Archer Lodgeians” into the community.  What a way to start the new year by having breakfast with your neighbors!

FEBRUARY

Reverse Raffle

The Archer Lodge Community Center held its first Reverse Raffle in 2003. The grand prize was $10,000. This event was the insight of a senior at Clayton High School, Jenna Castleberry (now Payton), and was used as her Senior Project. The scope of her project was volunteerism in a small community versus a large community and what you can accomplish. Her event raised close to $9,000 for the Community Center Building Fund. We were all very proud of her efforts and applaud her for doing such a fine deed for her community.

The Community Center voted to make this a yearly event which is held the last Friday in February.

Family Fun Day

The “Family Fun Day” at Archer Lodge is just what the name implies – good old-fashioned family fun. Starting in 2011, the events will be split across two days.  On Friday evening we will have the Little Miss Archer Lodge Pageant.  During the Pageant the concession stand will be open!  The next morning starts off around 8:00 am with a “Road Race” with trophies awarded to the winners. There is a registration fee which entitles you to a family fun day T-shirt for taking part in the road race. There is a parade held at 11:00 am which is great fun for everyone, so decorate your own entry and be a part of the parade. During the day, there are lots of activities: lunch consisting of BBQ from the annual Pig Cook Off Contest, games for the children, homemade ice cream, cake walk, ball games, horseshoe tournaments (with a trophy awarded to the winner). The evening entertainment begins at 6:30 pm with Patriotic Ceremony followed by spectacular fireworks, drawing crowds of people. It is the only time during the year Archer Lodge has a traffic jam! Make sure to thank our Volunteer Fire Department who make this event safe and fun for all.
